Posted 20 May 2009 -- Shipyard Divers Needed

 

Doug Fasseel is hiring two new ship repair divers at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.  The majority of the work is at Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk, VA, with some travel.  Candidates must have completed Second Class Dive School, have current dive quals and a good conduct discharge.

 

This hiring falls under the Veterans Right Act, in which veterans have "priority" in the hiring process.  Doug prefers younger qualified divers. Most of the shipyard divers are more "mature" but he will hire the best fit.  Ship repair would be a plus on the resume.


From Doug's experience of hiring last year, Human Resources sees the "full up qualled" diving supervisor with tons of experience of supervising being over qualified.
